The Blues

I've never been madly in love with the Blues but then I hear a song like this and well, I stand corrected. Its around the 1:20 mark that I fall for this song, hard.

April 22nd, 2010 : Cause & Effect : Record Store Day

I know, I know...I have been slacking on my posts but it has been a busy few weeks; SORRY!

Regardless here is the scoop on tonight's radio show.

As a music fanatic it was hard to ignore what has become a sacred holiday for music lovers around the planet. Because of the number of releases this year and how limited they were, it was nearly impossible to collect them all so I thought what better gift for our listeners to make than a hole show dedicated to these rare and wonderful records. For the full two hours we will play nothing but tracks from various record store releases. Bands included in the set are Fela Kuti, Ted Leo, Deftones,  Black Keys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hold Steady, Flaming Lips, Drive By Truckers, Album Leaf, and oh so many more!

Station : WRIR / 97.3 in RVA / www.wrir.org for streaming

Time : 7pm to 9pm (East Coast)

Punk IPA

Not to keep talking about beer on a mostly music site...but it appears the brewing community has applied a hip music concept to their world once again.

From Brew Dog:

An inherently contradictory take on a classic style

This 6% trans-atlantic fusion IPA is light golden in colour with tropical fruits and light caramel on the nose. The palate soon becomes assertive and resinous with the New Zealand hops balanced by the biscuit malt. The finish is aggressive and dry with the hops emerging over the warming alcohol.

This fresh, full flavour natural beer is our tribute to the classic IPAs of yester-year. The post modern twist is the addition of amazing fruity hops giving an explosion of tropical fruit flavours and a sharp bitter finish.

April 8th, 2010 : Cause & Effect : Les Savy Fav

Our radio show tonight will be this fun...only add in a healthy dose of classic DC post-hardcore bands as well as sweet 90's indie rock, and noisy angular bands like Six Finger Satellite.

Tune in - 97.3 on the dial if you live in RVA or listen on line at www.wrir.org.

A BIG THANKS to Syd from LSF for helping us put together the playlist. We love band input!
